Born on the 20th December 1971 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, N.E. Nick Sivanathan is affectionately known as Nick among his friends and colleagues. His late father was a civil servant who works as a locomotive engineer was a big influence on Nick during his younger years while his late mother was a fulltime homemaker. His only sister, who is a few years older, chose to explore a career in the education industry where she is currently working as a school teacher, contributing to society by developing the minds of the nation's youth.
Nick's career choice was in the food and beverage industry. After completing his "A" Levels, Nick's collegiate education includes qualifications in various F&B courses relevant to: Pastry Making, Kitchen Management, Hotel Management and Beverage Knowledge that are similar to that of French Sommeliers. Blessed with natural acumen and an innate understanding of marketing, business management, advertising & promotions and entertainment, this unassuming, yet charismatic and confident individual presents the complete package of talent & skill. Combining his God given ability, keen mind, observant nature and advanced education, Nick has indeed become an invaluable asset to the his employer.
In 1999, Nick joined The Ship Sdn Bhd, a locally owned chain of thematic western food restaurants where he currently serves as the Director of Operations. His duties and responsibilities encompass every aspect of ensuring that the large organization runs smoothly and efficiently every day, 365 days a year without fail. Nick has thus far proven to be more than capable of shouldering such an immense responsibility with flair and aplomb. With his discerning eye for detail and perfectionism, Nick overseas a large staff force that serve thousands of meals a day. Nick feels it's his personal responsibility to uphold and maintain the highest standards of quality in terms of service and food that have become the hallmark of The Ship restaurants. Nick has also speared towards the accorded awards such as LONGEST OPERATING WESTERN RESTAURANT by The Malaysian Book Of Records, The Winner of the "MOST POPULAR WESTERN RESTAURANT 2005/2006" by KL Lifestyle magazine and "FAMILI RIA-DEC 2005 BEST RESTAURANT STEAK HOUSE rated at 5 Star by NTV 7
An avid footballer and all round sportsman, Nick's personal philosophy on work is one of temperance; he does his best to be a role model for others to emulate. Perpetually striving for excellence in whatever he undertakes, Nick believes in leading by example and ensuring that he is always fair and consistent when dealing and interacting with others. This 36 year old bachelor is a real people person, well liked by his contemporaries and looked up to by his subordinates; Nick real fills a room with his positive aura and vibe.
Nick's personal philosophy on life is "Carpe Diem" seize the day! By setting your goals and pursuing them whole heartedly with focus and diligence, you can achieve whatever you set out to. He feels that it is very important for people to take responsibility for their own actions, as such everyone should have their priorities right and at the end of the day, people shouldn't neglect any opportunity that they might have to do the things that they truly want to do, Nick certainly hasn't.
Always a man of action, Nick says what he means and means what he says. His philosophy on people is extremely simple; Negativity should be avoided like the plague. Negative people bring everyone else around them down because negativity is highly infectious and can spread fairly rapidly, so Nick's only answer to negative people is to avoid them. Nick feels that is it very important to remain positive and try to treat others with respect, professionalism and courtesy, after all, Nick's golden rule is to do unto others as you would like others to do unto you.
